Shell Vacations Investigating Credit Card Breach

Shell Vacations, a company that operates a chain of resorts across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is currently investigating a possible security breach that resulted in credit card details being compromised.

An announcement posted on the Shell Vacations Hospitality and Shell Vacations Club websites, the company’s two subsidiaries, reveals that the suspected incident occurred between June 2010 and October 2010.

Guest sues hotel over surprise, late-night police visit

Did a hotel staffer erroneously lead police to break the door down of the wrong guest?
The question's at the heart of a lawsuit filed recently against InterContinental Hotels Group over a September incident at a Holiday Inn Express in Pembroke, N.C., the St. Claire Record reports.
An Illinois man is suing the hotel giant for about $75,000 after he says police officers were led to his hotel room and broke down his door in search of a female suspect. The alleged incident - in the middle of the night - prompted the man to fear for his life and draw his gun for protection, the paper says.

Pebblebrook Hotel Trust Acquires the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel

BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pebblebrook Hotel Trust (NYSE: PEB) (the “Company”) today announced that it has acquired the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel for $87.0 million. The 306-room, upper-upscale, full-service, Center City hotel features over 15,000 square feet of meeting space in a historic building that once housed the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. The property will continue to be managed by Sofitel (Accor SA). The transaction includes the assumption of a $56.1 million secured loan, with the remaining proceeds funded by the Company with available cash.

Tourism Asset Holdings sells six Kiwi hotels for $115m

AUSTRALIA'S largest hotel owner, Tourism Asset Holdings, has offloaded six New Zealand hotels in a deal worth $115 million.
The group announced yesterday that the New York Stock Exchange-listed company Host Hotels and Resorts had purchased TAHL's assets, including the Novotel and Ibis in the Auckland suburb of Ellerslie, the Novotel and Ibis in Wellington, the Ibis in Christchurch and the Novotel in Queenstown.

Exploding Escargot case goes to Court

SAN RAFAEL -- In the face of perceived injustice, few individuals have the gumption to fight for social reform. But two men are determined to make Marin County a safer place for escargot consumers, their families and generations of snail eaters to come.
Comes now in Marin Superior Court, small-claims division, the case of Chadwick St.-OHarra and Steve Righetti, who are suing the Seafood Peddler restaurant in San Rafael over an alleged incident of what their lawsuit called "exploding" escargot that marred Righetti's birthday dinner in June.

Philadelphia Restaurant settles race-bias suit

McFadden's Restaurant & Saloon has settled a lawsuit filed by a bartender who claimed that the establishment was racially biased, and has agreed to take steps to prevent discrimination.
As part of the settlement, the bartender, Michael L. Bolden, will receive no financial compensation, both sides said in a joint statement Tuesday.
Bolden filed a lawsuit last month against the popular Old City bar and East Coast Saloons, which the suit described as McFadden's parent company. Bolden alleged that McFadden's and East Coast Saloons had a national policy of discrimination against nonwhite employees and customers.
