In an Islington studio on one of the coldest nights of December, three of Britain’s most successful chefs have spent several hours lying face up in a giant sardine tin for a Channel 4 publicity shot.
So when Live arrives and asks them to do another shoot – this time wearing freshly deceased fish as neckties – there are some nervous looks among their agents. Jamie Oliver agrees, so long as the tie is sustainable. He’s not joking. A fresh mackerel is procured.
Gordon Ramsay grumbles that we’re making him late for his ‘day job’ at the recently reopened Savoy hotel. But during the shoot he tells a story that has the entire room hanging on his every word. His contribution to Channel 4’s Big Fish Fight series saw him investigating the illegal trade in shark fins, which led to a confrontation with heavily armed Costa Rican gangsters…
‘It’s a multibillion-dollar industry, completely unregulated,’ he’s saying.

Gordon Ramsay’s World Kitchen: Recipes from The F-Word was slammed by the US watchdog Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

‘Ramsay has travelled to the ends of the Earth to bring back dishes that will wreak havoc on your health,’ the group declared.

One dish in particular was seized upon – Ramsay’s British Pheasant Casserole - which is made of two birds, smoked bacon, butter and double cream.

Also making the top five list of most unhealthy cookbooks in the US are Barefoot Contessa: How Easy is That? by Ina Garten, Home Cooking by Trisha Yearwood, How to Cook Like a Top Chef from the makers of Top Chef and The Primal Blueprint Cook by Mark Sisson and Jennifer Meier.

Gordon Ramsay has added fuel to his fiery family dispute by suspending his wife’s brother and sacking her nephew from his company, it was revealed last night.
He acted against Adam Hutcheson, 39, and his son Christopher, 19, after firing father-in-law Chris Hutcheson from his post as chief executive of his firm.
Chris Hutcheson, 62, had been pivotal to the chef’s success, but this week the two engaged in public warfare after Ramsay wrote an open letter accusing his wife’s father of being a ‘dictator’.

Gordon Ramsay takes over Montreal restaurant

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is setting up shop in Canada, where he will take over a longstanding institution in Montreal, the Rôtisserie Laurier BBQ.
The Montreal Gazette first reported that Ramsay – the enfant terrible of celebrity chefdom – has become one of four partners in the iconic family-style restaurant, located on chic Laurier Avenue West in the city's tony Outremont neighbourhood.
Ramsay already has restaurants across the United States, including in New York, Florida and Los Angeles.
The Michelin star chef has honed a reputation as a tough-talking chef on reality cooking shows, including Hell's Kitchen and The F Word.
He made headlines more recently after a bitter public row with his father-in-law, Chris Hutcheson, who worked for many years as chief executive of Gordon Ramsay Holdings.
Ramsay fired Hutcheson this fall, then published an open letter pleading with his mother-in-law to not sever all ties with his family.
The Rôtisserie Laurier BBQ has been open for 75 years, serving simple home-style cooking including barbecued chicken.

Even for a man as volatile as Gordon Ramsay, it was a spectacular falling out. Twelve days ago, to the astonishment of everyone, it was announced that the celebrity chef and his chief executive, Chris Hutcheson, had parted company, thereby ending one of the strongest, most notorious, partnerships in the industry.
Hutcheson was not just Ramsay’s initial backer and business mentor, he was his father-in-law and the abrupt severing of ties plunged the family into the type of blood feud that may never be resolved.

Ramsay’s Father-in-Law Steps Down as CEO of Restaurant Business

Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Gordon Ramsay’s father-in-law, Chris Hutcheson, has stepped down as chief executive officer of Gordon Ramsay Holdings Ltd., the TV chef’s main restaurant business.

“We can confirm that Chris Hutcheson has left his position as CEO of Gordon Ramsay Holdings Ltd.,” the company said today in an e-mailed statement. “He retains an interest in the business as a shareholder,” it said. “Interim management will be put in place while the search begins for a full-time replacement. It continues to be business as normal for all GRH operations.”

The chef and the footie ace are going into the pie and mash business. David Beckham and Ramsay, 43, have registered the name PM (Pie & Mash) Restaurant in their joint initials DBGR with the Intellectual Property Office.

The combative celebrity chef - who this week delayed the much anticipated reopening of The Savoy Grill in London’s Savoy hotel - produced profits of £4.2m in the 11 months to the end of August, up from £2.47m for the same period a year ago.


The figures come after the entrepreneur and television star combined his two entities, the heavily loss-making Gordon Ramsay Holdings International, which owns all his restaurants opened since September 2007, and Gordon Ramsay Holdings, which encompassed the rest of the chef’s businesses.

Ramsay Holdings Full-Year Loss Almost Doubles Following Expansion to U.S

Gordon Ramsay Holdings International Ltd., the company that groups the U.K. television chef’s newest restaurants, almost doubled its loss in fiscal 2009 following his troubled entry into the U.S. market.

The net loss for the 12 months ended Aug. 31, 2009, widened to 8.32 million pounds ($12.9 million) from 4.32 million pounds a year earlier. One-time costs climbed to 5.81 million pounds from 849,510 pounds as the company wrote off the investment in venues in New York, California and Florida. The operating loss narrowed to 2.45 million pounds from 3.47 million pounds.

The 43-year-old Hell's Kitchen star received three big bills in eight months.

His latest tax bill of 323,000 pounds took the total outstanding tax to nearly 1.3 million pounds. Ramsay has a risk of having his restaurants and assets seized and he may eventually have to dip into his personal fortune to meet the demands.
