Greenbrier Resort casino to open in June
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The picture postcard view of The Greenbrier resort's white hotel facade offset with tulips in spring splendor is gone, replaced by cranes, dust and construction workers in a dash to finish an underground casino beneath what used to be the front lawn.
"It's basically crunch time," said Todd Fishon, the resort's vice president of casino operations.
A harsh winter has pushed back the opening of the 89,000-square-foot Casino Club to June and the exact date will be determined soon, he said.
The casino is being built underground so it won't take away from the ambiance and scenery of the 6,500-acre resort, which has entertained kings and presidents and once housed a secret bomb shelter intended for Congress.

Justice Family Group Purchases The Resort at Glade Springs
DANIELS, W.Va., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Businessman Jim Justice today announced that the Justice Family Group, LLC has purchased The Resort at Glade Springs for an undisclosed price. The purchase is the second resort ownership for the Justice Family Group which purchased the world-renowned Greenbrier Resort in May 2009.

The Greenbrier got its casino license
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS - Gov. Joe Manchin presented The Greenbrier Resort with its casino license, calling it "a proud day for the employees and the people in Greenbrier County."
Manchin pointed out that The Greenbrier's license varies from other casino licenses issued by the state because it "has a human resource account built into it." A portion of the receipts will help fund hotel employee benefits.

Greenbrier resort plans to add gambling this year
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Greenbrier's new owner said Thursday he plans to open a small casino at the four-star southern West Virginia resort by fall, and he wants the dice rolling and cards being dealt at a full-scale gambling operation by April 1.
Jim Justice also unveiled architectural drawings for a casino, shops and restaurants featuring sushi and steaks that would be built under the resort's front lawn. Gambling guests would reach the operation via staircases and elevators near the hotel's front entrance.
