Carluccio's agrees to £90.3m takeover offer from Landmark

Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's has agreed to a £90.3m takeover offer from Middle Eastern retail and leisure giant Landmark.


Dubai-based Landmark, which holds the franchise for Carluccio's in the Middle East and owns 5.1% of the group's shares, has offered 142p in cash per share. It said it has irrevocable undertakings or letters of intent from shareholders accounting for 36.5%.

Carluccio's warns of uncertain trading despite a rise in profits

Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s has posted an 8% rise in pretax profit to £2.7m for the first half of the financial year but warned that trading conditions are likely to remain uncertain.

The company reported strong trading for the six months to 28 March and said that turnover for the period was up 8% to £37.1m compared with last year’s £34.5m.

Carluccio’s reports good festive trading

Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s said it expects overall trading conditions to remain challenging in 2010 but added it was set to meet its five store opening target for the year.

The company reported strong trading over the festive period and said that turnover for the 17 weeks to 24 January was up 8% compared with last year.

The turnover growth was achieved despite disruption to footfall and trading during January, as a result of the adverse weather conditions, and without significant discounting.

Carluccio’s reports fall in profits but says consumer confidence is rising

Italian restaurant group Carluccio's today revealed full-year profits had fallen, but said there have been signs of improved consumer confidence in recent weeks.

Adjusted pre-tax profits for the 12 months to 27 September fell to £4.7m from £5.6m last year as costs rose, partly due to a weak exchange rate and higher utility costs. Turnover was up to £69m from £64.1m as expansion continued.

Carluccio's set to beat expectations after posting 8% rise in turnover

Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s today revealed that it expects to post a pre-tax profit ahead of expectations after seeing an 8% rise in turnover for the financial year.
Unveiling a trading statement for the year to 27 September, the company said it had benefited from the opening of six new restaurants, largely outside its traditional London base.
