Woman Dies After Fall Inside Gaylord Hotel in National Harbor

A young woman whom witnesses said plunged from a mezzanine level at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center  in Oxon Hill around 2:30 a.m. New Year's Day has died of her injuries, Prince George's County police said.

Witnesses told police the woman jumped, acting Major Paul Cruz said in a press release.
The woman had entered a closed off lounge area before falling 18 to 20 feet  to the atrium level inside the hotel, said Amie Gorrell, a spokeswoman for the hotel.

Gaylord Entertainment Company Reports Third Quarter 2010 Results

  • Consolidated revenue decreased 20.3 percent to $158.3 million in the third quarter of 2010 from $198.5 million in the same period last year, and included the impact of the temporary closure of Gaylord Opryland and certain of the Company’s other Nashville-based assets due to the flood damage suffered on May 3, 2010. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels total revenue (which excludes Gaylord Opryland, but includes the Radisson) increased 15.2 percent to $146.8 million in the third quarter of 2010 compared to $127.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels and adjusted hospitality segment results exclude Gaylord Opryland, but include the Radisson for all periods presented unless specifically noted otherwise. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels revenue per available room1 (“RevPAR”) increased 11.0 percent and Adjusted Gaylord Hotels total revenue per available room2 (“Total RevPAR”) increased 15.1 percent in the third quarter of 2010 compared to the third quarter of 2009. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels Total RevPAR performance in the third quarter of 2010 was impacted by increases in outside the room revenue and by declines in attrition and cancellation fee revenues which were elevated throughout 2009, but declined in the first nine months of 2010 as occupancy levels recovered and demand built. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels Total RevPAR for the third quarter of 2010 included attrition and cancellation fees of approximately $1.6 million collected during the quarter compared to $3.8 million collected in the prior-year quarter.

    Gaylord Entertainment Company Reports Second Quarter 2010 Results

    Gaylord Entertainment Co. (NYSE: GET) today reported its financial results for the second quarter of 2010. Highlights from the second quarter include:

    Consolidated revenue decreased 15.4 percent to $183.9 million in the second quarter of 2010 from $217.4 million in the same period last year, which includes the impact of the temporary closure of Gaylord Opryland and certain of the Company's other Nashville-based assets due to the flood damage suffered on May 3, 2010. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels total revenue (which excludes Gaylord Opryland, but includes the Radisson) increased 4.7 percent to $152.0 million in the second quarter of 2010 compared to $145.2 million in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels and adjusted hospitality segment results exclude Gaylord Opryland, but include the Radisson for all periods presented unless specifically noted otherwise. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels revenue per available room1 ("RevPAR") increased 5.1 percent and total revenue per available room2 ("Total RevPAR") increased 4.5 percent in the second quarter of 2010 compared to the second quarter of 2009. Total RevPAR performance in the second quarter of 2010 was impacted by declines in attrition and cancellation fee revenues which were elevated throughout 2009, but have continued to decline in the first six months of 2010 as occupancy levels recover and demand builds. Adjusted Gaylord Hotels Total RevPAR for the second quarter of 2010 includes attrition and cancellation fees of approximately $2.2 million collected during the quarter compared to $6.1 million in fees for the prior-year quarter.

    Gaylord Entertainment Co. Reports Second Quarter 2009 Results

    Key components of the Company’s hospitality segment performance in the second quarter of 2009 include:
    Same-store RevPAR decreased 19.8 percent to $104.85 in the second quarter of 2009 compared to $130.68 in the prior-year quarter. Same-store Total RevPAR decreased 19.6 percent to $248.72 in the second quarter compared to $309.50 in the prior-year quarter. Same-store hotels excludes Gaylord National for all periods presented. In the second quarter of 2009, Gaylord National RevPAR increased 6.1 percent to $145.25 compared to $136.85 in the prior-year quarter. Gaylord National Total RevPAR was flat in the second quarter at $343.99 compared to $343.12 in the prior-year quarter.
    Second quarter 2009 same-store CCF decreased 29.9 percent to $39.1 million compared to $55.8 million in the prior-year quarter. Same-store CCF included approximately $0.4 million of special expense related to severance costs in the second quarter of 2009. Same-store CCF margin4 declined 420 basis points to 28.3 percent compared to 32.5 percent for the same period last year. In the second quarter of 2009, Gaylord National generated CCF of $20.6 million compared to $14.1 million in the prior-year quarter. Gaylord National second quarter CCF results include approximately $0.2 million of special expense related to severance costs. Gaylord National CCF margin improved 1,030 basis points to 33.0 percent versus 22.7 percent for the same period last year.
    Same-store attrition in the second quarter was 14.0 percent of the agreed upon room block compared to 9.8 percent for the same period in 2008 and 16.7 percent in the first quarter of 2009. Same-store cancellations in the second quarter totaled approximately 29,381 room nights compared to 12,847 in the same period of 2008 and 66,872 in the first quarter of 2009. Gaylord Hotels attrition and cancellation fee collections totaled $8.2 million in the quarter compared to $3.6 million for the same period in 2008 and $7.6 million in the first quarter of 2009.

    Gaylord Entertainment Co. Reports First Quarter 2009 Results

    Segment Operating ResultsHospitalityKey components of the Company’s hospitality segment performance in the first quarter of 2009 include:

    Same-store RevPAR decreased 22.0 percent to $104.80 in the first quarter of 2009 compared to $134.34 in the prior-year quarter. Same-store Total RevPAR decreased 18.6 percent to $263.35 in the first quarter compared to $323.64 in the prior-year quarter. In the first quarter of 2009, the Gaylord National generated RevPAR and Total RevPAR of $139.33 and $312.24, respectively.

    Same-store CCF decreased 32.2 percent to $37.9 million compared to $55.8 million in the prior-year-quarter. Same-Store CCF results for the first quarter 2009 included approximately $2.6 million of special expense related to severance costs. In the first quarter of 2009, the Gaylord National generated CCF of $14.8 million which was adversely impacted by approximately $0.3 million of expense related to severance costs.

    Same-store attrition in the first quarter was 16.7 percent compared to 11.1 percent for the same period in 2008. Same-store attrition and cancellation fee collections totaled $6.1 million in the quarter compared to $1.8 million for the same period last year. Gaylord National attrition was 16.9 percent in the quarter and fee collections for attrition and cancellation at the Gaylord National totaled $1.5 million in the quarter.
