Baltimore Four Seasons hotel project moving ahead

Baltimore's $197 million Four Seasons Hotel is on target to open by late 2011 with partial financing from the proceeds of $45 million in tax-exempt bonds issued by the Maryland Industrial Development Financing Authority.

Representatives for the state and the hotel developers said PNC Bank is purchasing the state-issued bonds and that the proceeds will be loaned to the developer so that it can complete the 18-story, 256-room luxury hotel in Harbor East. Affiliates of John Paterakis' H&S Properties Development Corp. are the developers.

MIDFA held a public hearing on the bond sale Wednesday morning, and the settlement is scheduled for Thursday. According to H&S Vice President Michael Ricketts, the hotel project is expected to create 1,273 construction jobs and 577 full-time jobs.

Hotel workers ratify contract with four downtown Vancouver hotels

Unite Here! Local 40 has announced that workers at the Vancouver Hyatt, Four Seasons, Westin Bayshore, and Renaissance hotels have ratified a new four-year deal.
It includes a $1.84 per hour raise over the life of the contract, as well as a 50-percent hike in pension contributions, housekeeping workload relief, improved access to medical benefits , and medical-benefit increases, according to a statement released by the union.
"Now more of our coworkers will keep the extended health care and dental benefits during slower parts of the year," Naden Abenes, a room attendant at the Hyatt and member of the union bargaining committee, said in the statement. "I'm also happy we won housekeeping workload relief which means housekeepers will no longer have to skip their breaks to finish rooms, can rely less on painkilllers, and actually get to enjoy the time they spend with their families after work—instead of losing that time due to pain."

THE CBRE property consultancy handling the sale of the Four Seasons Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, is targeting hotel investment funds in Europe and the US as well as overseas owners of luxury hotels.

Although no guide price is being quoted at this stage for the five-star, 197-bedroom hotel, market sources suggest that the owners would be happy to sell the property for around €30 million.

Four Seasons Nevis Will Reopen on December 15

The Four Seasons Nevis closed back in October 2008 after Hurricane Omar tore through St. Kitts and Nevis islands. The hotel had hoped to reopen in February 2009 then again in November 2009 but the tough economy forced the property to stay closed until things got better.

Well, things must be better now as the resort is planning to open on December 15. Even better the hotel's website is already accepting and confirming reservations for that date. We found rooms for $345 USD for a deluxe mountain side room which offer partial views of Nevis peak and the nearby old sugar mill. Rooms also promise loveseats, a balcony or patio, deep soaking tubs and marble dining tables for two.
