Ruby Tuesday Reports Positive Same-Restaurant Sales of 4.2%

  • Positive same-restaurant sales of 4.2% at Company-owned Ruby Tuesday restaurants
  • Restaurant-level operating margin of 15.1%, compared to 13.7% for the prior year, an improvement of 140 basis points
  • Net income of $4.6 million, compared to prior-year net income of $0.4 million
  • Diluted earnings per share of $0.07, compared to diluted earnings per share of $0.01 for the prior year
  • Negotiated a new five-year, $320 million revolving credit facility with attractive pricing and flexibility, which closed on December 1st
  • Book debt to EBITDA ratio of 2.03 represents an improvement over the prior-year ratio of 2.57

Ruby Tuesday to open up to 200 Mexican eateries

Ruby Tuesday has inked a deal that will allow it to open and operate up to 200 fast-casual Mexican restaurants.


The Maryville-based restaurant operator signed a licensing agreement last week with LFMG International LLC for the development rights to South Florida-based Lime Fresh Mexican Grill.

The move into fast casual gives Ruby Tuesday, a casual dining chain with more than 850 company and franchise-owned locations, entry into a segment that has been the fastest growing in the restaurant industry.

Ruby Tuesday, Inc. Reports Fourth Quarter and Annual Fiscal 2010 Results

MARYVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ruby Tuesday, Inc. today reported diluted earnings per share of $0.33 on net income of $21.0 million for the Company’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2010, which ended on June 1, 2010. This compares to diluted earnings per share of $0.28 on net income of $14.4 million for the fourth quarter of the prior fiscal year. The fourth quarter fiscal 2010 results represent a 45% improvement in net income over the prior year quarter.

Same-restaurant sales for the fourth quarter increased 0.3% at Company-owned Ruby Tuesday restaurants and decreased by 0.5% for domestic franchised restaurants. The gap between franchise and Company-owned same-restaurant sales narrowed as the franchisees participated in virtually all promotional incentive programs during the quarter

Ruby Tuesday, Inc. Reports Third Quarter Fiscal 2010 Results

MARYVILLE, Tenn., Apr 07, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Ruby Tuesday, Inc. (NYSE: RT) today reported diluted earnings per share of $0.28 on net income of $17.8 million for the Company's third quarter of fiscal 2010, which ended on March 2, 2010. This compares to earnings of $0.09 per diluted share on net income of $4.8 million for the third quarter of the prior year. Closure and impairment expenses were $2.3 million pretax ($0.02 per diluted share after tax) in the third quarter of this year, compared to $14.3 million ($0.17 per diluted share after tax) in the third quarter of the prior year. Included in prior year expenses were charges related to the Company's restructuring announced in December 2008.

(NYSE: RT) today announced that same-restaurant sales for Company-owned restaurants were -0.8% to -1.0% in the third quarter ended March 2, 2010, compared to the same quarter of the prior year. Severe weather during the quarter is estimated to have reduced same-restaurant sales by 1.5-2%. Same-restaurant sales at domestic franchised restaurants decreased 5.3-5.5% in the third quarter compared to the same quarter of the prior year.

US restaurant chain Ruby Tuesday puts Britain on menu

THE American restaurant chain Ruby Tuesday plans to open in Britain this summer. The company’s first outlet will open in Cardiff in June with another four openings already in the planning stages.

Named after the Rolling Stones track, the chain was started in 1972 by a group of Tennessee University students including the current chief executive, Sandy Beall. It has more than 900 owned and franchised restaurants and revenues of more than $1.4 billion (£905m).

Restaurant chain sued for overdue rent at 2 malls

(Crain’s) — Simon Property Group Inc. is suing a well-known casual restaurant chain to collect more than $143,000 in past-due rent and other fees for locations at two Chicago-area malls.

The Indianapolis-based mall giant alleges in separate lawsuits that Ruby Tuesday Inc. locations at Lincolnwood Town Center and Orland Square Mall have fallen behind on their monthly rent payments, though Simon has not begun eviction proceedings.

Ruby Tuesday, Inc. Announces Pricing of Common Stock Offering

MARYVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 22, 2009-- Ruby Tuesday, Inc. (NYSE:RT) today announced the pricing of the previously announced offering of 10,000,000 shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $6.75 per share. The Company has granted the underwriters a 30 day option to purchase up to 1,500,000 additional shares to cover over-allotments, if any. The Company will use the net proceeds to pay down debt. The Company expects to close the offering on July 28, 2009. Ruby Tuesday, Inc. Announces Common Stock Offering

MARYVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ruby Tuesday, Inc. (NYSE: RT) today announced it plans to publicly offer 10,000,000 shares of its common stock. In addition, it intends to grant the underwriters a 30 day option to purchase up to 1,500,000 additional shares to cover over-allotments, if any. The offering is being conducted as a public offering pursuant to an effective registration statement under the Securities Act of 1933. Proceeds will be used to pay down debt. Ruby Tuesday, Inc. Reports Fourth Quarter and Annual Fiscal 2009 Results

MARYVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ruby Tuesday, Inc. today reported diluted earnings per share of $0.28 on net income of $14.4 million for the Company’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, which ended on June 2, 2009. This compares to diluted earnings per share of $0.27 on net income of $13.9 million for the fourth quarter of the prior year.
Same-restaurant sales for the fourth quarter decreased 3.2% and 6.9% at Company-owned and domestic franchise Ruby Tuesday restaurants, respectively. Guest traffic at Company-owned same-restaurants was positive in the quarter.
